Recipe: Basil Pesto

Basil sauce for pastas and spread for toast.


  • 2 cups fresh basil
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/3 cup pine nuts
  • 1 Tbspn minced garlic
  • 1/4 tspn salt
  • 1/4 tspn pepper

Combine basil, pine nuts, garlic, salt and pepper in a blender. Pulse until chopped. Add parmesan and pulse until combined. Slowly pour in olive oil while blending continuously until pesto becomes a smooth puree. Makes roughly 12 oz. of pesto.
